KENDALLVILLE, Ind. — Police say 15 rail cars derailed on a Northeastern Indiana rail line Monday, and one car plowed into a fence behind a business in downtown Kendallville.

No injuries were reported.

Three boxcars from the 130-car Norfolk Southern Railway freight train jackknifed near a crossing in Kendallville about 3 a.m., twisting the rails and causing a dozen other cars to derail.

Three crossings in the city were blocked for about four hours until railroad crews were able to move the locomotives and train cars that remained on the tracks.

The cause of the derailment in the town about 25 miles north of Fort Wayne was not immediately known.
