ARDMORE, Okla. — No injuries are reported after a train derailment in southern Carter County forced evacuations early Wednesday morning.
Homes within a mile of the derailment along U.S. Highway 77 were evacuated.
Officials said 24 cars of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed about 2 a.m. The cars were carrying a form of anhydrous ammonia.
Air in the area has been tested and no hazardous fumes were found.
Railroad crews arrived Wednesday morning to clean up the area.
