KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A railroad car spilled 300 to 500 pounds of phosphate pellets Thursday when an axle broke as it was being moved into a railyard behind the University of Tennessee.

The accident, initially reported as a derailment, involved one car in a 65-car CSX train. No injuries were reported.

Knoxville Fire Department officials said the car was back on the tracks and the phosphate pellets, used to make fertilizer, were cleaned up by three p.m.
