CHESWICK, Pa. — An oncoming train split a truck trailer cleanly from its tractor Tuesday night during a collision at the railroad crossing near Cheswick Avenue.
No one was injured in the accident, which happened about 9:05 p.m. and left the cab of the mangled truck on the opposite side of the tracks from the trailer, Cheswick police officer Bobby Scott said.
The truck driver, Kaslo Smith of Louisiana, was making a delivery of pet supplies to the T.R. Last Co. Inc. feed dealer, which sits on the river side of the tracks along Watercrest Way, Scott said.
While Smith tried to back the truck across the tracks toward Freeport Road to park it in a nearby lot for the night, she apparently didn’t see or hear the train coming, Scott said.
