WASHINGTON — An Amtrak train was struck by two bullets early Saturday near Washington, D.C., but no one was hit, according to CNN.
A spokeswoman for the passenger train line said federal authorities told her the shootings do not appear to be linked to the sniper attacks that have wracked the area in recent days.
A railroad track worker heard gunfire at about 2:15 a.m. as passenger train No. 169 was traveling from Baltimore toward Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Kathleen Cantillon said.
No one aboard the train heard the shots, she added.
Amtrak rep orted the shootings to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, which found no tie to the sniper shootings that have killed eight people and wounded two since October 2 in Washington, Maryland and Virginia, she said.
Cantillon said she did not know what part of the train was hit or the number of passengers on board, but said Amtrak was investigating.
