MONTGOMERY, Ala. — CSX Transportation reported it will re-route some of its train traffic through Alabama because of track damage from Hurricane Gustav.
The company said repairs to the damaged track, which is about 10 miles east of New Orleans, will take about two weeks.
Following previous storms, the line routed some of its diverted traffic to the Meridian & Bigbee Railroad, which connects Montgomery to Meridian, Miss.
Mike Williams, a spokesman for Meridian & Bigbee parent Genesee & Wyoming, said he was not sure if the line would carry CSX traffic this time.
