WEST GLACIER, Mont. — Two BNSF Railway trains collided at a switching point here Thursday afternoon, partially derailing one locomotive but causing no injury and minimum damage, a railway spokesman said.

Spokesman Gus Melonas said a westbound freight train traveling from Chicago to Portland hit the 10th car of an eastbound container train as it was moving off the mainline onto a siding.

One of the three locomotives of the westbound train derailed, but crews were putting it back on the tracks and traffic was expected to resume Thursday night, Melonas said.

The collision occurred about 2:30 p.m. at a very slow speed. Both trains were loaded with containers and contained no hazardous materials, he said.
