NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — More passenger trains and faster service to Washington, D.C. are coming to Newport News. A $38 million multi-modal transportation center in Newport News is scheduled to begin construction in 2016. The station will be able to accommodate four Amtrak trains a day and will include room for taxis, bus bays for Hampton Roads Transit and Greyhound, and 125 parking spaces, according to Kim Lee, spokesman for the city of Newport News.
