WASHINGTON — According to WJLA, railroad officials say trains were delayed leaving Union Station Wednesday afternoon because of what Amtrak calls “a trespasser”.

D.C. Fire Department and EMS spokesman Alan Etter says a woman was on top of a train car. Virginia Railway Express spokesman Mark Rober says delays of up to 45 minutes were expected, because the train the woman was on blocked the exit of all other trains.

MARC says Camden, Penn and Brunswick trains leaving Union Station were delayed from one-half to one hour.

There is no information on how the woman got on top of the train or what her condition is. The issue was resolved by about 6 p.m., though delays residual delays continued.
