KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A rail car part that seized up, overheated and started a fire, forcing the evacuation of thousands in 2015 in Maryville, is the focus of a federal trial that started Monday in Knoxville. A lawsuit alleges the Union Tank Car Co., the tank car maker, is negligent because a roller bearing ran out of grease, causing the part to stop working and to overheat.
