CLEVELAND, August 20 — All BLET members are hereby reminded that nominations for the triennial election of local Division officers must be held at your first regular meeting in September.
If you are a Division Secretary-Treasurer, then you also serve as an election official for your Division. A package of election material, including a booklet titled “On The Right Track,” was mailed to you in July to help you prepare for the elections.
At the conclusion of the nominating meeting in September, secretary-treasurers are required to inform the National Division of who was nominated for each office. S-Ts can report the nominations online using the BLET website. A “Report Nominations” link is available in the “TRIENNIAL ELECTIONS” section of the online reporting system (https://www.ble-t.org/streport).
As a result of election protest decisions from the Office of Labor Management Standards of the Department of Labor, the BLET has been forced to make some very significant changes to the local division electoral process. In other words, the 2009 process is very different than the 2006 process.
