AMARILLO, New Mexico — Two people have been killed in a wreck between a train and a vehicle.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call at 4 a.m. from BNSF, the owner of the tracks in Crowley, about the wreck which occurred near the intersection of La. 90 and Sidney Richard Road outside Crowley.

The engine was on its way back from Midland to Lafayette.

The intersection has no warning lights or rail.

The train was traveling at about 64 mph when it hit and traveled about 2600 feet before stopping.

The man and woman in the car were killed.

Names of the victims will be released after family is notified

According the APSO, there is no indication that the vehicle stopped and it didn’t appear that the occupants were aware the train was coming.

Toxicology reports are pending on drivers of the car and train.
