ABERDEEN, S.D. — No one was injured when two Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway locomotives derailed at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Gus Melonas, regional director of public affairs for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, said the locomotives’ wheels slipped off the track due to snow buildup just west of the Second Street overpass.
The locomotives were rerailed at 12:30 p.m.
Melonas said the derailment happened at a very low rate of speed and the locomotives were not damaged.
