AURORA, Ill. — Two commuter trains collided Wednesday in this Chicago suburb, causing minor injuries to about 30 passengers, a wire service reported.
The wheels of three commuter cars and one locomotive were off the tracks after the accident involving one inbound and one outbound train, railroad spokesman Dan Schnolis said.
He estimated that about 60 passengers were on board the slow-moving trains when the crash happened near the yard facility for the Metra/ Burlington Northern Santa Fe line in Aurora, about 36 miles west of Chicago.
Some passengers were taken to area hospitals with bumps, bruises and other minor injuries.
