INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, February 2 — The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program, is offering two virtual classes in February and March 2022: a 10-hour OSHA General Industry Course and an 8-hour DOT Hazardous Materials Awareness Course.

• February 7 and February 14, 2022: 10-Hour OSHA General Industry Course

This course is intended to increase workers knowledge on hazards they may encounter on a job site and their rights. Training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention. The course is five hours each day (11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Eastern), and attendees must attend both days. An incentive of $175.00 is available to participants who take this course. • February 24 and March 3, 2022: 8-Hour DOT Hazardous Materials Awareness Course

This course is designed to provide the safety awareness, security awareness, and in-depth security training required by the DOT for hazmat transportation workers. This course also provides OSHA first responder awareness level training. The course is four hours each day (11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Eastern), and attendees must attend both days.
