MONTCLAIR, Calif. — Two railroad cars filled with automobiles went off the track Thursday afternoon.
No injuries, fires or hazardous materials were reported.
The crew of a Union Pacific freight train headed east along State Street between Mountain and Benson avenues reported the derailment to Union Pacific dispatch at 4:50 p.m., said spokesman John Bromley.
The train filled with automobiles was headed to Mira Loma from Roseville, an area near Sacramento, Bromley said. He did not have the number of freight cars in the train.
Bromley did not know the cause of the derailment.
Union Pacific sent crews out to put the cars back on the track, he said. The repairs were scheduled to be complete later Thursday evening. An estimate of the damage was not available.
