U.S. freight railroads logged a combined 400,289 carloads and intermodal units for the week ending Dec. 24, a 4.8% decrease compared with volumes in the same period in 2021, according to Association of American Railroads data. The railroads hauled 193,195 carloads for the week, down 4.1%, and 207,094 containers and trailers, down 5.5%.
