NEW YORK — In a surprise move, the U.S. Senate confirmed six nominees to railroad-important federal agencies on January 2, 2019, including three to the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board. It was an unexpected move given the government shutdown in Washington D.C. Among the six confirmations were three new members to the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board: Erhard R. Chorle (chairman, Railroad Retirement Board); Thomas Jayne (management member, Railroad Retirement Board); and Jonathan Bragg (Labor Member, Railroad Retirement Board). Chorle’s term will expire on August 28, 2022. Jayne’s term will expire on August 28, 2023 and Bragg’s term will expire August 28, 2024. The other three Senate confirmations were for nominees to the Surface Transportation Board.
