ERIE, Pa. — Wednesday afternoon brought a reminder of cold days in February as members of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America union carried signs and marched outside the gates of the former GE Transportation plant in Erie. Members of Locals 506 and 618 staged a two-hour informational picket, carrying signs that said: “Fighting for the jobs our community deserves.” The mood was light, but the threat of a real strike seemed to hang in the air.
