ODESSA, Texas — Union Pacific is responding to unprecedented regional growth and increased traffic by adding six new tracks to its Odessa rail yard. The $10 million Odessa rail yard project, which includes the six new tracks and plans to build a parallel line connecting east Odessa and west Midland, is part of a larger $50 million expansion of rail services throughout the Permian Basin. The track additions more than double the rail yard capacity, increasing the number of tracks from five to 11.
