OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific Railroad is enhancing Colorado’s transportation infrastructure by investing more than $10 million in the rail line that runs between Winter Park and just west of Kremmling. The project is in progress and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June. The 56-mile project includes replacing about two miles of rail in various curves, as well as renewing the surfaces at 39 road crossings. In addition, crews will be replacing 44,400 ties, spreading 24,900 tons of rock ballast to help provide a more stable roadbed and making more than a half mile of improvements in tunnels.
Also, the railroad is enhancing Wyoming’s transportation infrastructure by investing more than $9 million in the rail line that runs between Egbert and the Wyoming/Nebraska state line near Lyman, Neb. The project is in progress and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June. The 79-mile project includes replacing nearly 66,000 ties, spreading 44,800 tons of rock ballast to help provide a more stable roadbed, as well as renewing the surfaces at 62 road crossings.
