SAN FRANCISCO — Union Pacific Corp. on Monday said earnings in the third quarter would remain within the company’s forecasted range despite the effect of Hurricane Rita, but would most likely reach the low-to-mid end of the range.

Earnings had been tracking to the high end of the range of 88 cents to 98 cents a share prior to the hurricane, the railroad said in a statement. The hurricane caused no catastrophic damage to its track structure, but has taken some routes temporarily out of service, it said.
