OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific Railroad is enhancing Nebraska’s transportation infrastructure by investing $8.7 million in the rail line that runs between Sarben and Joyce. The project is in progress and is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. The project includes replacing more than 12 miles of rail and renewing the surfaces at 12 road crossings. In addition, crews will be replacing 60,700 concrete ties. Union Pacific plans to invest $3.6 billion in its rail network during 2012 along its 32,000-mile network.
