LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Union Pacific Railroad says hunters should avoid railroad rights of way during the hunting season. In a news release today, the railroad’s chief of police, Dennis Jenson, said 102 people have died on railroad property this year.
Jenson said the walking along the railroad’s right of way is extremely dangerous, because you never know when a train will come along.
According to Jenson, trespassers on the railroad’s right of way are subject to arrest for violating trespassing laws and can face jail time and a fine. He said safety is a priority and the railroad police will issue citations or arrest trespassers.
