WASHINGTON, D.C. — The IRS has announced that employees will open tax season on time – and issue tax refunds – despite a government shutdown. But don’t plan on spending those tax refund dollars just yet: the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) filed a lawsuit alleging the administration is violating the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) by requiring federal employees to work without pay during the partial government shutdown.
