OMAHA, Neb. — Another magazine is praising Union Pacific as a top employer for military veterans.
Miltary Times EDGE recently ranked the Omaha-based railroad No. 10 on its list of the 50 best employers for veterans. Earlier this year, G.I. Jobs ranked the Union Pacific No. 1 on its list of military-friendly employers.
Union Pacific senior vice president Barb Schaefer says the railroad has found that veterans adapt well to the challenges of its operations. UP has hired about 5,000 military veterans since 2005.
The Military Times EDGE based its rankings on companies’ veteran recruiting, training programs, reserve policies and retention of veterans.
