NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Union Pacific Railroad today announced the promotion of Chad Wilbourn to general superintendent-transportation services of its North Platte Service Unit.
Cameron Scott, currently the general superintendent of the North Platte Service Unit is moving to Kansas City to become general superintendent of that service unit to replace Joe Whalen who is retiring next year, according to UP. The appointments are effective January 1.
In his new role, Wilbourn, 40, will be responsible for more than 1,885 miles of track spanning central and western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, northeastern Colorado and northeastern Kansas.
Wilbourn started his railroad career with Union Pacific in 1990 as a switchman in North Little Rock. He held several positions in the Operating Department in North Little Rock; Cheyenne; Alexandria, La.; California; and Houston.
Prior to being named general superintendent-transportation services of the North Platte Service Unit, Wilbourn held the position of director of transportation services there. Wilbourn earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Madison University in New Orleans.
In his new role, Scott, 45, will be responsible for 1,320 miles of track spanning northern Missouri, southeastern Nebraska, and parts of northeastern Kansas.
Scott started his railroad career with Union Pacific in 1991 as a management trainee. He held several positions in the Operating Department in Omaha, Seattle, Green River, Wyo.; Salt Lake City and Denver. Scott earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas and was graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
