CARROLL, Iowa — A Union Pacific coal train derailed in Carroll, dumping coal on the ground and blocking two mainline tracks.
Union Pacific spokesman James Barnes says the 135-car train was eastbound from Wyoming to Illinois when it derailed early Tuesday morning, causing 33 cars to leave the tracks.
No one was injured.
Cleanup was to begin later in the day.
Barnes says other trains were being detoured around the site.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
