VALLEY, Neb. — A train engine caught fire Sunday morning as it rolled through Valley, but nobody was injured and no harmful chemicals were released into the air, a Union Pacific spokesman said.

The fire was reported at 7:46 a.m. and was out less than an hour later, Union Pacific spokesman James Barnes said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

The train and others on the line had resumed normal operations, Barnes said.

Barnes said the 78-car train was traveling from North Platte to Illinois.
