INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, November 18 — The following is a statement by retired General Chairman Bill Hannah, Union Pacific-Western Lines GCA, encouraging members to vote in favor of the Tentative National Agreement.

I commend President Pierce and his National Bargaining Team on the proposed tentative agreement. Never in my 46-year career have I ever supported a National Agreement before because of the give-backs contained in those agreements. There are no give backs proposed here and the thoughts of a PEB scare the hell out of me. During my career I saw great work rules obtained under Brother Pruitt when he was Genera Chairman. I also was able to gain additional beneficial work rules and overtime. The Carrier’s last proposal would gut the UP West Agreement and would be extremely costly for all UP Engineers. I suggest our Brothers and Sisters stop reading the vile garbage posted on some social media sites and get behind our National Team and their efforts to get this agreement ratified. That garbage says “you have nothing to lose.” You have a lot to lose at any PEB; especially a Republican PEB. I strongly suggest our members ratify this proposed agreement.
