CUMBERLAND, Maryland — The 24-year-old Hampshire County sheriff’s deputy who was hit by a train and killed early Sunday morning was last seen with friends following a wedding near Cumberland, Maryland.
Deputy Brad Timbrook, II, of Romney, was found dead by CSX workers at about 3 a.m. Sunday in south Cumberland.
Cumberland Police Dept. Lt. Brian Lepley says it appears the death was a tragic accident.
“The investigation shows Mr. Timbrook was struck by a train sometime between 1:30 in the morning and 3 a.m. when officers arrived,” Lt. Lepley said.
Timbrook’s body has been sent to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Dept. website says Timbrook was lost in a tragic off-duty accident. “His sense of humor, and pride as a deputy, will always be remembered,” the website said.
Deputy Timbrook began with the department in June 2009. He graduated from the State Police Academy in October 2009.
