NORFOLK, Va. — According to Governor Tim Kaine, a decision could soon be made on whether to build an intermodal rail facility in Elliston.
Norfolk Southern is eager to move forward but there’s been some opposition, delaying a decision on the project.
“What I tend to get is overwhelming support in the area, but the Montgomery Board is opposed,” Kaine said.
The governor has asked citizens and leaders to get together and work it out.
“I suspect a decision will be made some time next month,” says Kaine.
Kaine told News7 discussions are on-going, but the state is getting legal advice from the attorney general about certain aspects of the proposal.
Kaine reiterated recently, either facility will be built in Montgomery County or not in the region at all.
