MOORHEAD, Minn. — Moorhead police are asking for the public’s help in finding the vandals who damaged a coal train as it passed through town early today.
Someone stuck a large roll of chain link fence on the railroad tracks in the downtown area. An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train dragged the fencing about six blocks before the wire cut through the air lines on several of the rail cars — bringing the 123-car train to a halt.
Ten intersections were blocked while repairs were made to the train. It took crews two hours to make the repairs.
Police have no suspects and are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to give them a call.
