CLEVELAND, November 11 — On this day we honor our veterans, the fallen, and their families. On Veterans Day we proudly pay tribute to their contributions and sacrifices that have made our country free and strong.
Veterans Day is an important day of remembrance for the Brotherhood and our members. Our Organization was founded on May 8, 1863, during the midst of the Civil War. Many of our Organization’s original members were veterans, having fought in the Civil War. Over the years, our members have continued that proud tradition of service to America’s military heritage. Today, we have countless brave members who are veterans, and many more who are right now overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan serving our country.
I ask all BLET members to honor those who are serving and those who have served. Please take a moment to say a prayer of thanks to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Their families, too, should be in our thoughts and prayers this Veterans Day.
Please join me in honoring all of America’s veterans with the dignity and respect they so richly deserve.
