MONTREAL — “After all, what’s fair is no fare”. From May 29 – August 29, 2004, those over 18 purchasing a senior, student, or adult-fare ticket in VIA Rail Canada’s Comfort Class® (Economy) can bring a child aged 11 or under along for free. Available on almost any VIA Rail train system-wide, the Kids Travel Free program makes it even more affordable to make travel with VIA Rail part of a perfect family getaway to explore some of Canada’s most exciting destinations.

To take advantage of this offer, simply purchase your ticket at least five days in advance. VIA Rail’s Kids Travel Free offer is valid on all trains except the Bras d’Or service between Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia, as well as VIA’s express trains between Montreal and Toronto, which depart at 5:00 p.m. from both cities. For the duration of the program, children receive an “activity pak” while on board to complete during their travels or take home as a souvenir. Additional conditions pertaining to this offer can be found at http://www.viarail.ca/offers.

Parents are also encouraged to subscribe to VIA Rail’s free virtual community family e-newsletter, which keeps subscribers posted on special offers for families and children, including contests to win weekend getaways and discounted admission prices at attractions throughout Canada.
