MONTREAL — On July 3, 2004, VIA Rail Canada will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Ocean, VIA’s Atlantic Canada overnight train. For this historic moment, VIA is initiating a pricing promotion offering travel to/from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and any stations in the Québec city-Windsor corridor for no more than $100 in Comfort class (economy).

For a travel experience that’s even more memorable, VIA also offers attractive fares for overnight accommodations in Easterly class (sleeper cars), including privileges such as Continental breakfast, Turn down and personalized service.

The “100th Anniversary” fares are available immediately and are valid for travel between June 7 and September 9, 2004. Some conditions apply. The Ocean – A unique travel experience

The Ocean, VIA Rail’s service between Montreal, Moncton and Halifax, is the ideal way to travel between Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in comfort and convenience. An unforgettable experience, the train travels overnight along the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River Valley, then proceeds through New Brunswick and on to beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Ocean offers two classes of service. Passengers in Easterly class, the trains’ premier service, enjoy cozy sleeping compartments with picture windows, comfortable bedding with down duvets, private washroom, and access to a shower; use of the Park Car Lounges, lined with fine art and featuring three small salons as well as complimentary video viewing, newspapers and magazines.

In Comfort or Economy class, passengers can stretch out in comfortable reclining seats and take in the splendor of Canada’s landscape through huge picture windows, or relax in the lounge and café. Snacks and drinks are available from convenient trolleys, and blankets and pillows are provided per request.
