WASHINGTON — Virginia Railway Express commuters hoping to use their tickets on Amtrak this week could be in for a nasty surprise.
VRE is warning that many Amtrak trains are already sold out, with Thanksgiving travelers gobbling up the seats. And if an Amtrak train is sold out, VRE riders won’t be allowed on.
So the commuter line is warning its ticket holders to check first with Amtrak, then have a back up plan.
VRE won’t run any trains Thursday or Friday. And when service resumes after the long holiday weekend, two Manassas Line trains will be history.
