RENO, Nev. — Western railroad historians are scheduled to gather in Carson City this weekend for the 32nd annual Virginia & Truckee Railroad Symposium.

The Friday through Sunday symposium is sponsored by Friends of the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Most activities will be at the museum and the Carson Nugget.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas history professor Sue Fawn Chung is the scheduled featured speaker at the annual banquet Saturday evening.

Other events include a hiking tour of the former Carson & Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company Railroad, a museum restoration shop tour and a model railroader workshop.

Topics of discussion include the early history of the Central Pacific Railroad and its connections to the V&T, the Carson & Colorado Railroad and Sierra Nevada?s lumber railroads.

Registration is limited to 200 participants.

Fees are $70 for Friends members, $80 for non-members and $90 at the door. The fee covers all sessions, a Friday night reception at the museum and the banquet.
