CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Senator Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., and Rep. Nick J. Rahall, D-W.Va., are opposed to a House Republican plan to privatize Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. Both legislators told the Charleston Gazette that the plan would endanger passenger rail service on a national level while virtually eliminating it in West Virginia. The plan would also destroy thousands of good paying jobs.
