The BLET’s District of Columbia State Legislative Board (DC SLB) concluded its sixth quadrennial meeting on July 17. Chairman Herb Harris of Division 482 was reelected to his fifth term of office.

Amtrak President Roger Harris addressed the delegates and discussed a wide range of issues and projects essential to the future of Amtrak.

Also elected were: First Vice Chairman Carlyle L. Smith, Div. 482; Second Vice Chairman Jeese Flotte, Div. 14; Secretary-Treasurer Dorian Potts, Div. 482; and Alternate Secretary-Treasurer Kelly Hamrick, Div. 482. Elected to serve as Trustees were: Sean Gilliam, Div. 482; Todd Woollam, Div. 14; and Ben Williams, Div. 482.

Harris has served as Chairman of the DC SLB since it was founded in 2005. The DC SLB represents approximately 250 BLET members who work for Amtrak, MARC, and Virginia Rail Express. It is the only BLET state legislative board comprised entirely of passenger and commuter locomotive engineers.

“I am proud of our accomplishments and the dedication of the officers that have served over the past two decades,” Chairman Harris said. “We are committed to passenger rail service and effectively representing BLET members. We have a solid foundation for the next generation of officers and future success of the State Legislative Board.”
