NEWARK, N.J. — Though buses and trains are running in much of the state, NJ Transit officials are reporting growing delays and cancellations this morning because of rising water on local roadways and train tracks.

All service on the Montclair-Boonton and Pascack Valley train lines has been suspended because of high water, affecting thousands of commuters. New York-bound service on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Morris & Essex Line is experiencing 15- to 20-minute delays.

NJ Transit bus service is reporting 20- to 30-minute delays across the state. However, with many roads flooded, commuters may see longer delays in some areas.

Customers on the Montclair-Boonton line can use their tickets and passes on NJ Transit, DeCamp buses or Newark Light Rail. However, because of limited capacity, customers are advised to expect delays and crowding conditions, NJ Transit officials said.

On the River Line, buses are being substituted for light-rail trains between Bordentown and Roebling stations until further notice.

Though a state of emergency has been declared in New Jersey, NJ Transit officials said all employees are expected to report to work this morning.
