WRIGHT, Kan. — Crews worked to clear railroad tracks east of Dodge City after 68 empty grain cars derailed on Wednesday.
High wind was blamed for the derailment, which took place shortly after 11 a.m. near the town of Wright. A spokesman for Burlington Northern-Santa Fe said the 95-car train was heading from Texas to Missouri. All 95 cars were empty.
The derailment affected two rail lines, including one used by Amtrak passenger trains. That line was expected to reopen in time for an Amtrak train to use it late Wednesday.
No injuries were reported in the derailment
