The BLET Wisconsin State Legislative Board (WI SLB) hosted a team building session during the week of September 29. Chuck Schulz, Chairman of the WI SLB, said the annual meetings help boost morale and provide important educational and networking opportunities.

In recognition of the importance of railroads to the state’s economy and the role BLET plays, Wisconsin Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez and Wisconsin Railroad Commissioner Don Vruwink participated in the meeting and engaged in a question and answer session with BLET representatives.

Schulz said the discussions focused on C3RS, Hours of Service, OSHA whistleblower protections, arbitration of discipline cases, claims process for grievances, highway/rail grade crossing safety, Infrastructure and Investment and Jobs Act (also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), regulating artificial intelligence (AI), and autonomous transportation in both the trucking and railroad industries.

In all, about 30 BLET and special guests were in attendance.
