SYOSSET, Long Island — Long Island Rail Road officials say that a closed-circuit television system at its Sysosset station is malfunctioning.

They acknowledged the problems with the $1.3 M system after a 73-year-old woman’s leg plunged between the platform and the train yesterday morning.

She was taken to a hospital, treated for pain in her knees, and released.

The camera system was installed in response to concerns about gaps at the Syosset station that are as wide as 15 inches.

LIRR spokesman Sam Zambuto confirmed that four of the station’s six new video displays were not working. He said they would be replaced soon.
