ARGYLE, Ill. — Officials say a member of a maintenance crew working on some railroad tracks in southeast Iowa died when he was hit by a freight train.
The Lee County sheriff’s office says the man was working on the Burlington-Northern tracks near Argyle yesterday afternoon. Deputies say he apparently didn’t hear a whistle from the Union Pacific freight train.
The man’s name hasn’t been released.
