ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A man was killed while working in a railroad yard when he hit his head and apparently fell from a railroad car, authorities said.
Timothy Bradshaw, 25, of Donora, Washington County, was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident, which occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Monday at Mon River Transloading Inc. in Allegheny County.
Bradshaw apparently was standing on a brake platform on the edge of and about halfway up the railroad car, helping to move it, when he struck his head on part of a wooden crane platform, Forward Township police Chief Thomas Staley said.
Bradshaw likely was distracted or not paying attention and struck his head on the platform, which is only about a foot higher than the top of the railroad car, Staley said.
Mon River Transloading did not immediately return a call for comment.
