The BLET and IBT family were shocked and heartbroken by the sudden passing of Carlos Barrett Sr, who was tragically killed on March 15 in a hit-and-run accident in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He has worked as the Administrative Assistant at the BLET National Legislative Office in Washington, D.C. since 2017.

“Saying we will miss Carlos is an understatement and words alone do not begin to express the shock and sadness in the D.C. Office due to Carlos’s passing,” BLET Vice President & National Legislative Representative Vince Verna said. “He was a friend and confidant, and a great BLET employee. Carlos always offered his help no matter who needed it. He was an integral part of our team and most important, a very kind soul and gentleman.”

According to media reports, police were dispatched for a pedestrian welfare check at around 9:15 p.m. on March 15 in the area of Branch Avenue and Suitland Parkway, just east of Washington, D.C. Police found Carlos in the roadway suffering from trauma and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver did not remain in the area, and the make and model of the car that hit Carlos is unknown.

Police are still searching for leads and ask that anyone with information should contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 731-4422 or leave a tip online at the Prince George’s County Crime Solvers website.

Carlos is survived by his mother, three children, and one grandchild. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
