In the face of continued problems with traffic volumes at the Panama Canal, shippers and carriers will likely seek alternatives which is where CPKC believes it can step in. CPKC was formed in April this year out of a merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern creating a single line railway connecting Canada, the US and Mexico.
