JERSEY CITY, N.J. — A Jersey City man was arrested Wednesday for calling in a bomb threat to a NJ Transit bus in August, said Dan Stessel, a spokesman for agency.
According to Stessel, on Aug. 28 at 8:30 a.m., a man told the NJ Transit information operator that there was a bomb on a bus.
Police eventually traced the number to a Jersey City address, and then learned that the call had been placed through a three-way system, and that the person at that address was not directly involved, Stessel said.
That person led police to Isiah Washington, 23, of Ege Avenue, Stessel said, and on Thursday, police tracked him to a street corner near his address. He admitted involvement in the bomb threat, Stessel said, and was remanded to the Essex County Jail pending $10,000 bail, Stessel said.
He is charged with making false public alarms and terroristic threats, Stessel said.
