NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit is curbing payouts for unused vacation time, suspending the payouts to nonunion employees.

NJ Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett-Hackett told the Asbury Park Press the action comes in response to Gov. Chris Christie’s criticism of the practice.

Christie spokesman Kevin Roberts told the newspaper the administration hopes NJ Transit will end such benefits for union employees in their next contracts.
